Jeleel was one of three finalists in the competition. He was invited to an award ceremony taking place in Amsterdam on 11th October 2022, were the first, second and third place was announced. The award acknowledges and rewards promising young scientists working around the world across animal, aquaculture, and veterinary sciences.

Jeleel's work that was selected for the award “Can fish grow on trees?” is part of Foods of Norway focus on documenting the nutritional and functional potential of yeasts produced from wood sugars as sustainable fish feeds. Jeleel defended his PhD thesis in May 2022.
