PhD defence
On November 30, Marta Perez de Nanclares Fernandez will defend her PhD thesis “Rapeseed co-products in pig diets – Effects on nutrient and energy digestibility and metabolism”.
In front of the defence, Nanclares Fernandez will give her trial lecture entitled "Upgrading the nutritional value of feeds and feed resources by novel processing - opportunities and challenges".
Time and place: Thursday 30 November at 12:15 in auditorium H109 in Husdyrbygningen at NMBU, Campus Ås.

The following day opponent Hans H. Stein will give a talk titled:
"Use of feed technology to increase the nutritional value of diets for pigs".
Stein is a professor of Animal Science at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, where he is conducting research and providing outreach programs in the area of intestinal physiology and feed ingredient evaluation. He obtained a PhD degree in monogastric nutrition from the University of Illinois, and a Masters degree from the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University in Copenhagen, Denmark. Dr. Stein was born and raised on a small livestock operation in the southern part of Denmark.
He will share recent development from the University of Illinois on how to improve nutritional value of pig diets.
